Herbert C. Long

A Cape Coral resident has written a book that he claims will bring readers a new self-esteem. The author, Herbert C. Long has written Built Stronger, “I Am What I Am,” and it can be bought at bookstores and online.

It’s available in paperback for $14.99 and at $22.99 for hardcover and is published by Xulon Press.

Long’s book was featured at the Dallas Christian Book Expo in March.

According to Xulon Press, Long’s new book explores the two important issues of power and success through the eyes of people from different parts of the world and different backgrounds.

Using Scripture verses as a backdrop, the message the author conveys is one of encouragement, to know who you are and to whom you belong. Long believes that God will equip the reader with a solid self-esteem that will help them to be “built stronger” for whatever life brings their way.

“Power and success are something everyone wants more of. We want power to overcome the obstacles in our lives. We want the kid of power that makes us feel in control. Some of us want power that will enable us to reach out to and help the weak.

“Some chooses to receive power from the source of all power which is God. The reader can challenge his or her perception on how they view all the negatives that surround us with confidence to overcome,” he said.

Long said he was brought up in an old-fashioned religion that majored on guilt. He said he discovered God’s grace later in life and sought to share with others this truth as he traveled the world during his long career.

He now sees himself as a messenger delivering the message of the love of God and the positive energy that comes from knowing his grace.

“I am a man who has known great triumph and tragedy, yet has faith in God and a positive attitude about life that is infectious,” he said.

Long and his wife, Nancy, are Cape Coral residents.
