A 53-year-old Fort Myers man died after jumping off the Edison Bridge Tuesday night.

Fort Myers police said they received the call at 7:06 p.m. after a passerby saw the man jump from the northbound side near the top of the bridge.

A city employee who works at the Yacht Basin heard the radio transmission, located the man, and brought him to shore on his boat. The man was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital where he died, officials said.
