Overnight fire guts Lehigh home
An overnight house fire gutted a Lehigh Acres home at 3417 38 St. SW. The fire was reported about 10:50 p.m. Tuesday.
“When our units arrived they found heavy flames already coming through the roof,” said department spokesman Patrick Comer.
After a primary search revealed the home was vacant and unoccupied firefighters took up a defensive position to protect a home next door. The two-story house is a total loss, Comer said.
Investigators say the fire is suspicious and will be on scene again Wednesday along with the State Fire Marshal to continue their investigation.
