Search is on for robbers of Lehigh ice cream shop
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying two robbery suspects.
On Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at around 9:30 p.m., Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Country Style Ice Cream Shop, located at 1107 Homestead Road N, in Lehigh after a report of an armed robbery of the ice cream shop.
Detectives conducting the investigation said two employees were inside the shop at the time of the incident. The victims told deputies that shortly before 9:30 p.m., two individuals entered the premises armed with firearms.
The suspects removed a small amount of cash from one of the cash registers before leaving the scene on foot. They were last spotted running toward Business Way. The suspects may have entered a vehicle at that point, possibly an older model gray or silver Honda Accord or Civic with an unknown tag.
Suspect No. 1 is described as a heavy set, black female, 5’3“, 250 pounds, wearing a bright orange shirt with dark colored shorts, late teens to early 20s.
Suspect No. 2 is described as a black male, 5’10” to 6’0″, 160 to 180 pounds, wearing all black clothing, late teens to early 20s. Both suspects are shown in surveillance photos.
Neither victim was injured during the incident.
