Yacht Club Boat Ramp to close for sand removal
The Yacht Club Boat Ramp will be closed for maintenance beginning Tuesday, April 21. Strong winds have shifted sand into the area and created navigation problems on the eastern ramp. Public Works crews will remove the sand and pile it on far western edge of the beach for drying. Once the sand has dried, trucks will remove it from the area.
A similar situation occurred last year, and crews took about three days to complete the work. The city will be placing signs at the ramp to give notice to boaters. A safety fence also will be placed in the area of the sand pile and where the equipment will be stored. The City anticipates that the ramp could be reopened by the weekend.
