According to the Town of Fort Myers Beach, a massive water main line break in the Times Square area has been repaired by the town’s public works department.

However, as a precautionary measure, residents of the beach town should boil all water to be used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes. A rolling boil of one minute should be sufficient, town officials said.

The precautionary measure will remain in effect until the notice has been lifted and a bacterial survey shows that the water is safe to drink.

Notice will be placed on the Web site of the Town of Fort Myers Beach. Go to www.fortmyersbeachfl.gov for updates.

Residents of Fort Myers Beach awoke without water Thursday morning due to a main water line break in the Times Square area.

The break happened sometime during the evening of Wednesday, April 15 and a complete water shutoff was ordered early Thursday morning.
