The FBI has asked the Lee County Attorney’s Office to hand over e-mails relating to the new Boston Red Sox stadium project.

In a letter to Andrea Fraser of the county attorney’s office dated March 4, the FBI is requesting email messages from employees Jim Lavender, Scott Gilbertson and Donald DeBerry containing the following terms: AIM, Three Oaks, Samir, Tom, Frank, Daugherty, impact, Golf, Bonita, biodiesel, Vegas, dredging, FBI, Bruce, 20/20, Chico, lease, Dan, Aronoff, Edison Farms, University, Galvano, Waterman, Estero, Freeman, Todd and Stephenson.

The letter also requests emails from Lee County Manager Don Stilwell with the following terms, in addition to those listed above: grant, mortgage, Geoffrey, Jessica, Galloway, Scanlon, Jan, Tom and Mort.

Stilwell’s email with the keyword “Samir” was requested from the period of Jan. 12 to the present.

The FBI asks that the information does not need to be “provided quickly” due to the amount, only that it be turned over. The letter also does not clarify if the requested emails are from county or personal accounts.

The terms Galvano, Waterman, University and Edison Farms refer to potential sites for the new Red Sox stadium.

Fraser did not return phone call seeking comment. It is unknown whether the county attorney’s office denied or honored the FBI’s requests.

A phone call to Bob Janes found the commissioner surprised, saying he had only recently received a copy of the letter.

“I have no idea what they’re looking for,” Janes said. “I don’t know anything about it.”
