Two April Masses for victims of child abuse

By Staff | Apr 22, 2009

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and to raise awareness of the need to protect children and to pray for victims of child sexual abuse Bishop Frank J. Dewane of the Diocese of Venice in Florida will celebrate two Masses. The Masses for victims will be April 24 at Epiphany Cathedral Parish in Venice and April 30 at St. John the Evangelist Parish in Naples, both are scheduled at 12:30 p.m.
This will be the second year Bishop Dewane has celebrated Mass for the Victims of Child Abuse. This year in addition to Mass at Epiphany Cathedral, Bishop Dewane decided to schedule a second Mass for victims in the southern deanery, or region of the Diocese. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) encourages dioceses to use this month to educate Catholics on how abuse harms children and what the Church is doing to address it.
