Says Weiner doesn’t understand Lehigh
To The Citizen:
Edd Weiner, the vice chairman of the Lehigh Community Planning Corp. (LACPC) has just moved into State District 73 of Lehigh. Is he planning to run for state representative in the next election?
Mr. Weiner is currently trying to get the Lee County Commission to approve a plan to charge landlords an annual fee in a rental ordinance he has written.
Of course, we know that the fee charged landlords will be passed onto the tenants because the landlords are in business to make a profit, something that tax and spenders do not comprehend.
The County Commission and several letters have been written in the press rejecting the rental scam, leaving Mr. Weiner and the LACPC standing out in the cold all alone.
Mr. Weiner also just called for two traffic circles or “round-abouts” to be built in Lehigh in the general neighborhood of Mike Wesner, who was an incorporation supporter. Are we going to have to pay for that also?
Your readers remember the incorporation group – they’re the people who tried to put Lehigh Acres $25 to $45 million in debt, which of course would have guaranteed Lehigh into becoming a vast wasteland.
Mr. Weiner has lived here only a few years and does not understand the lifestyle or history of the people of Lehigh Acres and has come here from the east coast city of Plantation where he was a commissioner in the early 1990s and believes in the tax and spend liberal spending policies.
He is also chairman of the Lehigh Democratic Club, but does not understand that west coast Democrats are extremely conservative in taxing and spending and will not support grandiose taxing plans that will put them in the poor house.
As current vice chairman of the LACPC, he has taken over the control of the private group since its county authority was taken away from them by Lee County for defaulting on their duties to the county.
Mr. Weiner would not consider asking the Commission to change the Land Use Plan to installing onsite septic systems on new construction thereby saving the current septic owners around $20,000 in sewer hookups and construction taxes.
We hope Mr. Weiner will run against Rep. Nick Thompson; it will be fun to watch how many people believe in his tax and spend philosophy.
