Prep Report: Baker wins finale 8-5
Seniors Blake Frasier and Dustin Mishka drove in three runs apiece Thursday night to lead the Ida Baker Bulldogs to an 8-5 victory over Charlotte to close out the regular season schedule.
The victory sends the Bulldogs (10-15) into the District 5A-15 Tournament Tuesday night against Fort Myers in a positive frame of mind. The fifth-seeded Bulldogs lost to the fourth-seeded Green Wave by one and two runs in their regular season meetings.
Jake York had two hits for the Bulldogs as did Mishka, who also stole two bases.

Riverdale 17, Cape Coral 10: Cape Coral closed out a frustrating season with a high-scoring loss to Riverdale in a game halted in the sixth inning by a power outage.
Brandon Marshall highlighted the Seahawks’ evening with a two-run homer in the fourth inning.
The Seahawks take on Gulf Coast Tuesday in the District 5A-15 Tournament at Terry Park.

Bishop Verot 13, Aquinas Institute 7: Bobby Borchering slapped a three-run double and Dan Vogelbach added an RBI double to snap a 7-7 tie in the fifth inning and lift Bishop Verot to victory over Aquinas Institute of New Jersey.
Zach Haeseli and Anthony Moore contributed three hits apiece to help overcome three home runs by Aquinas.
The Vikings (12-13) face Dunbar at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the District 3A-12 Tournament at FGCU.

Girls Tennis
Naples 5, Bishop Verot 2: Bishop Verot’s season as a team ended Thursday with a loss to Naples in the Region 2A-6 finals.
Once again, 1-2 players Linda Kornienko and Mariel Rickert shared the spotlight for the Vikings. Rickert won her singles match while she and Kornienko won at doubles to account for their only team points at the Ace Tennis Center.
While the loss ended the season for the squad, Kornienko and Rickert advance to the state Class 2A Finals that start Tuesday in Orlando. Both earned automatic berths in last week’s district tournament.
Kornienko qualified for state at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles with Rickert.
