Alley temporarily open Sunday during the day
The Florida Highway Patrol says it will temporarily open an approximate 75-mile cross-state stretch of Alligator Alley that had been closed because of a wildfire.
FHP says all of Interstate 75 was open at or before noon Saturday and closed at 7 p.m. They were to also open the Alley on Sunday at around 9 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Officials say the highway will likely be open on Monday.
The fire has consumed 12,500 acres and winds continue to flow out of the east at 10 to 15 mph. This is expected to continue for the next few days. The fire is burning north and south of I-75 between 71 to 86 mile markers.
