Two Lehigh men killed in crash near Arcadia
Two men from Lehigh Acres died early Monday in a fatal accident on SR 31, just south of Arcadia in DeSoto County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol press release. The two men were identified as Joseph W. Sudak, 50, and Duaine C. Lashbrook, 44. Police said they were killed when the van Sudak was driving crashed into a semi, police said. The crash occurred shortly after 11 a.m.
Police said in the report that the van was headed north on SR31 and went off the highway into the east shoulder.
According to the FHP report, the driver of the van over corrected and the van skidded across to the northbound land and into the southbound lane. A semi truck traveling south collided with the side of the van which caused the truck to jackknife. Neither of the two men were wearing seat belts and Sudak was thrown from the vehicle, according to the FHP. The driver of the semi truck was not injured, the report said.
