Cites the successes of President Obama

By Staff | Apr 29, 2009

To The Editor,

First, I should disclose that I lost confidence in both major political parties over a dozen years ago. Second, I did not vote for President Obama. I voted for Ralph Nader so I wouldn’t waste my vote.

During the presidential campaign, both major candidates made outlandish promises like many campaigners before them. I felt that our President was just another smooth talking snake oil salesman.

Right now, I have to say that I was wrong.

President Obama is trying his best.

He has sent one of our nation’s top negotiators to Palestine and Israel to salvage the hopelessly mired peace talks.

He has offered to talk with Iran with no preconditions.

He has started preparations for our departure from Iraq.

He promised to listen, talk, compromise before he acts. He is actively participating with Mexico in the drug war on our southern border

He has strengthened our ties with our great dependable neighbor, Canada.

He is in the process of closing one of Ameria’s greatest shames, Guantonimo Bay Prison. He is also rewriting our rules for prisoner treatment.

He has finally opened communication with future talks with Cuba, and that was a change that took, well over 50 years to come to fruition.

And he has accomplished this in three months. What a guy!

Now let’s talk about the economy.

Our President told us upthat times were tough and that it was going to get much worse. He has cautioned about painting too gray a picture, but he pulled no punches. He said after consulting with his experts, the plans that worked and plans that failed during my Great Depression of 1929 would be reworked continually until we were out of this historic recession.

Of courses the losing party could only moan about one thing, and that was the cost of putting millions of Americans back to work on America’s infrastructure and the costly bailout of Wall Street and the banks.

Yes, my great grandchildren will be saddled withthis debt, but we and the world could not wait for 12 years of deep depression and a world war to finance our way out.

Here was a politician that made campaign promises and actually kept them. This President didn’t take the easy way out. He fought for us, “the middle class workers.”

Right now the world’s nations are holding their collective breaths, waiting for the U.S. to lead them out of this financial disaster. And what are the election loser’s harping about? The cost.

Their so-called “Tea Parties” should be “Cool-Aid Parties.”

I would guess that 95 percent of them are affiliated with the election losers and they’re envious of President Obama’s success in a short amount of

time.

I just heard a news brief on the radio stating that the experts are seeing slight positive change in the economy. But as our President cautioned us, there willbe more bank closures, more unemployment, more home foreclosures, and more financiers going to jail.

But, of course, this is unacceptable for the Cause du Jour Group, the Tea Partiers, who have nothing constructive to offer but sniveling and whining. To these protesters, I might suggest that instead of standing around and listening to malcontents, do something rewarding – like helping an old couple with chores, fixing or oiling a neighborhood kid’s bike, picking up contributions, even volunteering at a thrift store or a soup kitchen

It will keep you away from unproductive causes and you will be doing something positive for other less fortunate human beings.
