Postal rates go up on Monday
When you mail this weekend, don’t forget that the U.S. Postal Service has upts its rates to 44 cents a letter and also upped its prices on other services. If you don’t put enough postage on the envelope, it will be returned to you. And they blame it all on the recession. Rates go up Monday.
This is the official word from the U.S Postal Service:
for mailing letters and packages on May 11, 2009.
Letters will be 44 cents.
Post cards will be 28 cents.
Priority Mail will be from $4.95 (based on weight and distance).
Express Mail will be from $13.05 (based on weight and distance).
The average increase by class of mail is at or below the rate of inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index.
