Band from ‘Down Under’ to play at Buckingham Center on May 27
On Wednesday, May 27 the band “Harper” will perform for the students and staff at Buckingham Education Center. The performance is scheduled for 1 p.m., according to Joe Donzelli, a spokesman for the Lee County school system.
Buckingham Exceptional Center is located at 3291 Buckingham Rd., Fort Myers, just outside Lehigh Acres.
Though “Harper” is well known in Australia, his 10 original songs on “Down To The Rhythm” exhibit virtuoso harmonica performance, distinctive instrumentation, instantly memorable songs and deeply soulful groove that “Harper” is so well known for Down Under. He plays a didgeridoo in much of his music, which is an instrument that is part of the Australian culture, Donzelli said.
“Harper” has performed in Australia, Canada, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Singapore and France. His first tour of the United States was in late 1996 and has toured here 10 additional times. This will be the second performance by Harper at Buckingham Center, Donzelli said.
