Questions Resignations letter answered here
To The Editor,
Mr. Anderson, In response to your letter to the editor posted on May 11, 2009, here are the factual responses. Both Assistant Chiefs resigned as per their letter of resignation dated April 28, 2009. Mr. Haugh’s resignation was verbal on Monday, April 27, 2009, and then in writing on April 28, 2009.
Mr. Duncan needed some time to himself, which was mutually agreed to, and he was placed on administrative leave. Whereas, Mr. Haugh still has projects to complete, as well as needed to use accrued vacation time or lose it. In accordance with the Employee Handbook Section 7.2, Severance Pay, Mr. Duncan does not meet the requirements for a severance package.
Mr. Haugh met the intent and will be afforded any severance conditions as outlined in said paragraph based on his years of service.
Every Commissioner was notified in person or over the phone beginning on Monday, April 27, 2009, of Mr. Haugh’s verbal resignation. However, contact was unsuccessful with Commissioner Hemingway, either over the phone or in person at his home on Monday, April 27, 2009.
Nonetheless, on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, Commissioner Hemingway was notified in my office just after 10 a.m.. After receiving Mr. Duncan’s resignation and Mr. Haugh’s resignation in writing, Commissioners were notified on Tuesday, April 28, 2009.
