By Staff | May 11, 2009

To the Editor,

The Fourth Geneva Convention, October 21,1950, and ratified by 194 Countries June 27, 2006 States : Article 4- Prisoners of war, in the sense of the present convention, are persons belonging to one of the following categories, who have fallen into the power of their enemies, including members of other militias and members of other volunteer corps. operating in or out-side their own territory, providing that such militias ful-fill the following conditions : [a] That of being commanded by a person responsible for his subordinates

[b] That of having a fixed distinctive sign recognizable at a distance

[c] That of carrying Arms openly

[d] That of conducting their operations in accordance with the laws and customs of War

The terrorist, captured and sent to Guantanamo Bay, did not wear the uniform of any country, nor carry a flag from any country, nor meet any of the 4 conditions set-out in Article 4.

Therefore one can assert they do not meet the criterion for prisoners of war and therefore are not under the protection of the Geneva Conference. They are nothing more than murderers whose sole agenda is to kill Americans and other citizens that don’t believe in their distorted views.

Many people are upset over the pictures of the handling of the terrorist at Guantanamo Bay. And rightly so. They are troublesome, to say the least. But I recall other pictures of prisoners taken by the terrorist, who was blindfolded, arms tied behind their backs, put on their knees and their heads cut off.

I bet all those bleeding heart liberals were glad the terrorist didn’t “torture” their prisoners before they beheaded them.

Wake up America. You had better understand the distorted minds and actions of the terrorist we are fighting, before we are faced with another 9/11.
