Miracle is handed worst loss of season, 11-2

The Fort Myers Miracle suffered their worst loss of the season Tuesday night at Hammond Stadium as the Sarasota Reds scored nine unanswered runs to win 11-2.

The Reds took an early 2-0 lead into the bottom of the fifth when the Miracle (20-11) tied it up. Sarasota (12-19) scored four runs in the sixth against Deolis Guerra (2-3) and five more in the ninth against Kyle Waldrop on their way to the most runs scored against Fort Myers all season.

Before Tuesday’s game, the worst loss was April 18 – an 8-1 defeat against the St. Lucie Mets.

Guerra gave up eight hits and six earned runs in five and two-thirds, walking two but striking out seven. Spencer Steedley logged 2 1/3 hitless innings of relief and three strikeouts. Waldrop was hit hard in his 2/3 of an inning with five hits, five runs, and one walk.

Enerio Del Rosario (2-1) was the winner in relief of starter Travis Webb. Del Rosario threw 2 1/3 and gave up one hit while striking out two.

Evan Bigley made his Miracle debut with a 2-for-4 game after arriving a couple hours before the game.

Allan de San Miguel had his first hit with the Miracle in 2009, while Mark Dolenc (2-for-4) and Chris Cates (2-for-2) had multihit games.

The Miracle will send David Bromberg (2-0, 2.20) to the mound Wednesday against the Reds.
