Beach happening: Lita Ford Concert is May 23

By Staff | May 16, 2009

Wrangling up as many islanders as he possibly can, Maui Mark has organized a charter bus service from Matanzas Inn to Ricochet Nightclub Saturday, May 23 for the Lita Ford concert, which will be starring local man and drumming fiend Stet Howland.

“We’re bringing the locals from the island to the concert,” Maui Mark said.

For a small round-trip donation of $20 to help pay for the charter, beach peeps will ride in the Ku-Ku Ku-Nu-Ku trolley from Matanzas Inn, departing at 7:30 p.m., arriving at Ricochet just in time for the first of two opening acts for Lita at 8 p.m.

Boarding for the trolley will begin at 7 p.m.

Although this bus holds up to 63 people, if a second trip is needed to get everyone to the concert, Maui Mark said that can be arranged.

During your ride there and ride back, feel free to bring a couple beverages for the road, keeping them chilled in the large cooler provided by the Ku-Ku Ku-Nu-Ku trolley.

The concert

When arriving at the concert, trolley-riders will have an opportunity to receive a discount on the admission price of the show, thanks to Stet working some magic behind the scenes for his fellow islanders.

Maui Mark said to also expect an array of other surprises throughout the night for visitors.

Two acts will hit the stage before Lita, Stet and the gang. The first will start rockin’ around 8 p.m., with the other taking over around 9 p.m. Expect to see Lita and friends around 10 to 10:30 p.m.

Tickets to the show are $20 at the door, $15 in advance, but don’t forget the special discount Stet’s working on for Ku-Ku Ku-Nu-Ku riders.

After the show, departure to Matanzas will leave Ricochet around 1:30 a.m.

Parking

Since this is Memorial Day weekend, trolley-riders are asked to park for free under the bridge right near Matanzas, rather than in the inn’s parking lot. There is no charge to park there or any other metered parking areas after 6 p.m.

Also, think about car-pooling. It’ll make the trip even more fun.

Happy hour first

Before boarding the Ku-Ku Ku-Nu-Ku trolley for the show, stop on by Matanzas Upper Deck to take advantage of the happy hour specials.

Until 7 p.m., enjoy $2.25 domestic beer bottles, wells, chablis, blush or burgandys. That should get you in the rock-and-roll spirit if you weren’t in it already!

As Maui Mark wishes to express to Patty and the Ku-Ku Ku-Nu-Ku trolley, “Thanks to the Ku-Ku Ku-Nu-Ku trolley for providing transportation to Stet’s world tour event. We can’t always bring entertainers and music of our choice to islanders, so the Ku-Ku made it possible to bring the islanders to to them. I’d like to give special thanks to Patty for doing this for us. She’s discounted us and made it possible through this $20 round-trip.”
