Lee County road work public advisories

LEE COUNTY Road Work from the Dept. of Transportation. The following road projects are planned for the next week:

iROX (I-75 Road Expansion project to six-lane the interstate from Golden Gate Parkway interchange (#105) in Collier County to Colonial Boulevard interchange (#136) in Lee County): Construction project — Crews will be working 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 17 to Saturday, May 23, weather permitting, maintaining traffic signs and barrels along I-75 northbound and southbound between the Golden Gate interchange (exit #105) and the Colonial Boulevard interchange (exit #136).

Crews also will conduct surveys, place silt fencing off the roadway for erosion control, install sod, perform drainage work in the median, milling the outside shoulder and continuing median widening. Crews will perform bridgework at Pine Ridge Road (exit #107), Immokalee Road (exit #111), Corkscrew Road (exit #123), Hicks Crossing (mile marker #124), Gator Crossing (mile marker #129), Daniels Parkway (exit #131) and Six Mile Slough (mile marker #135). Motorists should expect occasional shoulder closures between the Golden Gate interchange and the Colonial Boulevard interchange. The following work is scheduled, weather permitting, and includes lane closures:

Each night/overnight 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., from Monday night, May 18 through early Friday morning May 22, bridge construction will require various lane closures on Immokalee Road at the Immokalee Road/I-75 interchange (#111).

Each night/overnight 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., from Monday night, May 18 through early Friday morning May 22nd, armor joint rehab work, traffic shift and striping operations requires one lane to be closed both northbound and southbound from the Golden Gate Parkway interchange (#105) to the Colonial Boulevard interchange (#136).

Each night/overnight 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., from Monday night, May 18th through early Friday morning May 22nd, traffic shift and striping operations will require temporary ramp closures northbound and southbound at the Alico Road interchange (#128) and the Daniels Parkway interchange (#131).

9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, May 18th to Saturday, May 23, bridgework will require various lane closures:

Pine Ridge Road at the Pine Ridge Road/I-75 interchange

Immokalee Road at the Immokalee Road/I-75 interchange

Bonita Beach Road at the Bonita Beach Road/I-75 interchange

Corkscrew Road at the Corkscrew Road/I-75 interchange

Daniels Parkway at the Daniels Parkway/I-75 interchange.

Motorists are advised to expect eastbound lane closures in the morning and westbound lane closures in the afternoon.

Motorists should expect lane closures northbound and southbound during nighttime work with the speed limit reduced to 60 mph. One lane northbound and one lane southbound will remain open to traffic during nighttime work requiring lane closures. Motorists are reminded to USE CAUTION, always buckle up, always pay attention, and do not tailgate. WORK ZONE SAFETY IS EVERYONE’S JOB.

S.R. 884/Colonial Boulevard: From Ford Street to Rolfes Road: Construction project — Crews are resurfacing the road and making minor drainage improvements.

Motorists should expect the following scheduled lane closures for this project:

Weekend work:

Friday evening: one lane closed in each direction from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Friday Sunday nighttime: two lanes closed in each direction from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

Saturday and Sunday days/evenings: one lane closed in each direction from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Weekday work:

Monday Friday:

one lane closed in each direction from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

one lane closed in each direction from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

two lanes closed in each direction from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

No lane closures are planned on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Motorists are advised to expect and plan for delays while work is underway. The contractor is Ajax Paving Industries, Inc.

S.R. 884/Colonial Boulevard: At the Plantation Road/Veronica Shoemaker Boulevard intersection: Maintenance permit project — Crews are working on turn lanes from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., weather permitting. No lane closures are anticipated at this time, but motorists should be aware of construction equipment in the area.

S.R. 867/McGregor Boulevard: From Whiskey Creek to Colonial Boulevard: Construction project — Crews are resurfacing the road, repairing sidewalks and making minor drainage improvements. Milling and resurfacing is tentatively scheduled to start on Tuesday, May 19th, with lane closures from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Motorists should plan extra travel time on McGregor Boulevard or use alternate routes depending on their destinations. Expect slow moving traffic and possible delays. The contractor is APAC-Southeast Inc.

S.R. 739/Metro Parkway: From Six Mile Cypress Parkway to Daniels Parkway: Construction project — This project is widening Metro Parkway from two to six-lanes. Crews are working on installing drainage and placing embankment adjacent to the southbound roadway. Motorists should also be aware of intermittent road closures of side streets on the west side of Metro Parkway.

Detours will be posted for traffic to access businesses along Metropolis Road. Crews continue to install utilities and Krypton, Endeavor and Atlantis Lane are currently closed. The traffic is being detoured to Alliance and Lois Lee Lane. South Gulf Coast Lane will be closed while crews install a storm sewer pipe.

The traffic will be detoured to North Gulf Coast Lane. Crews will be installing the water main across northbound Metro Parkway between North Gulf Coast and South Gulf Coast. Metro Parkway northbound will be closed during this night time operation. Variable message boards are posted along Metro Parkway with information regarding the road closures and detours. Work continues on the signalization at the intersection of Daniels Parkway and Metro Parkway with the installation of the strain poles.

Please be aware of short term nighttime traffic pattern changes and lane closures during the installation of these signals. Motorists should expect possible lane closures with delays and slow moving traffic. Flagmen will be on site to direct traffic. The contractor is E.T. MacKenzie of Florida, Inc.

S.R. 80/Palm Beach Boulevard: Eastbound from S.R. 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to Heitman Street: Maintenance permit project — Crews are working on the expansion of the Lee County Justice Center for the next several months. Motorists should expect eastbound right lane closures, slow moving traffic and possible delays.

S.R. 78/Pine Island Road: Westbound from west of Chiquita Boulevard to Burnt Store Road: Maintenance permit project — Crews are working on underground utilities on the side of the roadway from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting. No lane closures are expected at this time, but motorists should be aware of crews working in the area and possible slow moving traffic.

S.R. 78/Pine Island Road at the Santa Barbara intersection: Maintenance permit project — As part of the City of Cape Coral’s project on Santa Barbara Boulevard, crews will be working on intersection improvements, weather permitting. Motorists should expect a lane shift near the right turn lane going eastbound on S.R. 78 at Santa Barbara Boulevard. Santa Barbara Boulevard southbound will be closed between S.R. 78 and Hancock Bridge Parkway for approximately a month. No lane closures are expected at this time, but motorists should be aware of crews working in the area and possible slow moving traffic.

S.R. 78/Pine Island Road at the U.S. 41 intersection: Maintenance permit project — Crews are installing new electrical wires starting Monday, May 18th to Friday, May 29th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting. No lane closures are expected at this time, but motorists should be aware of crews working in the area, slow moving traffic and possible delays.

S.R. 78/Bayshore Road: From Evalena Lane to Hart Road: Maintenance permit project — Crews are installing new power poles from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting. No lane closures are expected at this time, but motorists should be aware of crews working in the area, slow moving traffic and possible delays.

U.S. 41: From the northern end of the Caloosahatchee River Bridge to Littleton Road: Maintenance permit project — Crews are working on final items to the landscaping and irrigation system in the median from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting. Motorists should expect lane closures and possible delays.

U.S. 41: Northbound and southbound over the Caloosahatchee River: Maintenance project — Crews will be working nights/overnights (8 p.m. to 5 a.m.) from Sunday night, May 17th through early Friday morning, May 22nd, weather permitting. Intermittent lane closures will occur on the bridge but, at a minimum, one lane in each direction will be open to traffic while crews repair bridge joint seals and railings.

U.S. 41: At the intersection of Coconut Road: Maintenance permit project — Crews are working on final items. Motorists should expect an intermittent northbound right lane closure and possible delays.

U.S. 41: At the intersection of Woods Edge Parkway: Maintenance permit project — Crews are installing a new traffic signal at this intersection from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures, slow moving traffic and possible delays.
