Armed suspect sought by Sheriff’s detectives
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating two suspects wanted for their involvement in an armed robbery. On Saturday, May 23, 2009, at approximately 2:33 a.m., deputies responded to 3832 Hyde Park, Fort Myers.
On scene, investigators met with the victim, a 46-year old white male, who told deputies he had asked the unknown suspect for a ride home from LJ’s Bar on State Road 31. The suspect agreed to the victim’s request and drove him to an area off of Cemetery Road, where the second suspect was picked up and entered the vehicle.
According to the victim, he was then struck from behind by suspect No. 2 while inside the vehicle. The victim managed to get out from the vehicle where he was struck again by suspect No. 1. During the attack, the victim suffered a non-life threatening stab wound as both suspects removed an undisclosed amount of money from his person. The suspects then got back into their vehicle and drove westbound.
Due to the nature of the crime, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Robbery Unit assumed the investigation.
Suspect No. 1 is described as a white male, 6’0“, unknown clothing. Suspect No. 2 is described as a Hispanic male, 6’3”, 250 pounds, wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt. The suspect vehicle is described as a four-door Suburban, light colored, with dark tinted windows.
