Lehigh man wanted in multiple business robberies arrested

By Staff | Jun 3, 2009

Michael Antwon Thomas, wanted by Lee County Sheriff’s Office investigators for allegedly entering businesses and robbing workers at gunpoint, has been apprehended.
Thomas, 22, of Lehigh Acres, was charged Tuesday with three counts of robbery with a firearm.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office previously said they were looking for Thomas for his involvement in approximately 11 armed robberies throughout the jurisdictions of the Sheriff’s Office and Fort Myers Police Department. In every incident, the method of operation was the same; enter a business and rob the employees at gunpoint. In several of the robberies, the gunman locked employees in the freezers of the business while he and others wanted in the robberies made their escape.
The robberies include a Wendy’s on Palm Beach Boulevard in April, a Subway on Homestead Road in Lehigh Acres, a Lee County Dairy Queen in October 2008, and most recently, the Red Robin at Gulf Coast Town Center.
