Deputies answering a call of gunshots fired found a body shortly after midnight today.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office received the call at 12:30 a.m. after gunshots were fired in the area of Fourth Avenue and Oak Drive within the Pine Manor Community.
Deputies spoke to a resident who said someone may have been injured. A quick search could not locate the injured person. A K-9 unit was requested to conduct a track.
During the track, a man was located in a nearby wooded area. The victim, who was dead, appeared to have been shot,
The victim was later identified as Marcos Santiago, 17. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit continues its investigation.
