You can now post on Internet Calendar

Now you can post your organizational events that are happening in Lehigh Acres. You can post to The Citizen’s Community Calendar. All you have to do is click on the newspaper’s website at: lehighacrescitizen.com and go to Monthly Calendar and click on Submit Events (under the Calendar) and post your event.

This is a non-profit site available to club groups and other organizations. For help, you can call The Citizen at 368-3944 and ask for Romina Mendoza.

Gay pride service set at church

At its June 14 worship service, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Fort Myers will reaffirm its choice to be more inclusive towards bisexual, gay,

lesbian, and/or transgender people.

It is one of many congregations belonging to the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) c committed to including and expressing the concerns of this community at every level of congregational life, welcoming their presence and unique gifts.

The Rev. Allison Farnum will lead the service, ‘Rainbow of Solidarity: Gay Pride Service,” at 10:30 a.m. The church is located at 13411 Shire Lane,

Fort Myers (just off Daniels near I-75).

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Fort Myers is the only Fort Myers congregation belonging to the UUA which represents more than 1,000 liberal religious congregations.

AARP Driver Safety Program needs instructor

The AARP Driver Safety Program is looking for a couple of people who would be willing to become instructors to teach this program in

the Lehigh Acres area. You will be trained in a two-day course which will be held this fall. If you are interested in joining this program and becoming an Instructor, contact Jerry Ladendorf at 239-573-1918.

Learn about the flag at Elks program

Flag Day ceremonies will be held on Saturday, June 13 at 11 a.m. at the Elks Lodge, 1050 Joel Blvd. in Lehigh. Most of the service organizations and fraternal groups of Lehigh will participate. All of America’s flags from the beginning to today will be on display. The family is invited. Refreshments will be served after the ceremonies. There is no charge.

Also planned at 7 p.m., there will be a Flag Day Dinner Dance. Cocktails are at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. The menu is stuffed pork chops and the band performing is LeDeux. The cost is $14.

Hurricane seminar is June 18 at Christ Church

There will be a hurricane awareness seminar on Thursday, June 18 at 7 p.m. at the Christ United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall at 1430 Homestead Rd.

The program will be presented by WINK-TV weather meteorologist and Lee County Emergency Management.

Church officials say bring a friend or neighbor. You can be a long-time or new resident, this program will help you learn how to prepare for a hurricane. the program is free but you are asked to call or email the church no later than Tuesday, June 16 to let them know how many people to plan for. Music camp set in Lehigh

The Lehigh Children’s Choir Summer Music Camp will be held June 16,23,30

July 7, 14, 21, and 28, Tuesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. The cost is $40 for a full

summer session. There will be singing, games, movement theory and more. Call 368-2488 for reservations.
