By Staff | Jun 11, 2009

Lee County sheriff’s deputies are hoping the public can help identify a motorist responsible for a hit-and-run accident that left an elderly bicyclist with serious injuries.
The bicyclist was crossing North Tamiami Trail adjacent to the Wonderland Motel (just north of Powell Drive) in North Fort Myers at approximately 3:15 p.m. Wednesday when the rear tire of his bicycle was struck by a vehicle. The motorist immediately left the scene, continuing northbound on North Tamiami Trail. The bicyclist sustained broken bones under his right eye as well as bruises and abrasions on his arms and knees.
Deputies are searching for a small white vehicle with possible damage to its front right side, but have little else to go on at this point.
