Albert S. Wimberly

Albert S. Wimberly, 69, of Red Boiling Springs, Tenn., formerly of Alva, died Monday June 8 with his wife and son at his side.

Wimberly was born in Camilla, Ga., on September 14, 1939, and lived in Southwest Florida most of his life. He owned and operated Al’s Auto Salvage and Repair of Alva. He enjoyed fishing and stockcar racing. After marrying LaWanda Wimberly, they moved to Tennessee where he was a for-hire dredge mechanical engineer. In his spare time he owned and operated Albert’s Welding and Repair.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 20 years, LaWanda Wimberly; his son, Randall (Shelley) Wimberly; two granddaughters, Jessica and Rachel Wimberly of LaBelle; former wife, Elaine Wimberly of Alva; four sisters, Charlie Mae Martin and Saddie Mae of Georgia, Jewel Durdin and Sara Ford of Florida; two stepsons, James Nicks of Texas, Randall Nicks and stepdaughter Geraldine Matthews of Tennessee, and two step grandchildren. Preceded in death are his parents, Albert (Joe) and Myrtle Wimberly, his infant son; Jimmy Wimberly, a brother; Jack Wimberly, sisters; Willie Mae Merritt and Jimmie Lee Brown.

The family will receive friends today, June 12 from 5 to 9 p.m. and funeral services, Saturday, June 13 at 1 p.m. at the Strode Gamaliel Chapel, Gamaliel, Ky. A local memorial for family and friends of Southwest Florida will be announced at a later date.
