Florida State League All-star Weekend to be at Hammond Stadium on June 19, 20
The 48th Annual Florida State League All-Star Weekend returns to Hammond Stadium in less than a week. The league’s midseason showcase last visited Southwest Florida in 2003. The festivities will begin with a Fan Fest on Friday, June 19 followed by the game on Saturday, June 20.
“Our fans will be in for a special treat. The weekend will be full of memories to last a lifetime,” said Fort Myers Miracle general manager Steve Gliner.
Miracle fans will be able to cheer for the seven players that will wear the hometown colors. Pitchers David Bromberg, Spencer Steedley, catcher Danny Lehmann, infielders Chris Cates and Steve Singleton. Outfielder Ben Revere and Chris Parmelee also were selected. The Miracle coaching staff will lead the South Division.
The game has become a stepping stone to future major league prosperity. Joe Mauer, Jason Kubel, Gavin Floyd, Robinson Cano, Curtis Granderson, Ryan Howard, Dioner Navarro, Willy Aybar, Micah Hoffpauir and Geovany Soto all appeared in the 2003 All-Star Game at Hammond Stadium.
Friday night’s event will take place in front of the scenic backdrop of Hammond Stadium. The event for all ages will feature food, live music, player autographs and kids fun zone. Admission is $5 per car. The event will take place from 6 to 10 p.m.
On Saturday night, June 20, Hammond Stadium gates will open at 5 p.m. The night will kick off with the annual Home Run Derby, followed by the game. A spectacular fireworks show will light up the skies of Southwest Florida to wrap up the two-day extravaganza.
Tickets are $8for box seats and $6 for general admission.
Tickets are available for purchase at Hammond Stadium or by phone between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
