Sheriff’s Summer Camp is free
Today, Monday, June 15, marks the start of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Summer Youth Program. The Summer Youth Program gives students ages 11 to 13 a chance to interact with law enforcement in an educational environment. The first of six summer programs will be held at Bonita Springs Middle School. The programs will continue through July at different schools throughout Lee County. Each four-day session will give students an opportunity to learn more about the sheriff’s office as well as see demonstrations in areas including SWAT, K-9 and Aviation.
The sessions run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and are offered at no cost.
The upcoming dates and locations are:
June 15-18 — Bonita Springs Middle School
June 22-25 — Alva Middle School
June 29-July 2 — Cypress Lake Middle School
July 6-9 — Lehigh Acres Middle School
July 13-16 — Three Oaks Middle School
July 20-23 — Lehigh Acres High School
School Resource Officers in middle schools will be handing applications to students to take home to their parents. Additionally, parents can go to any middle school that has a school resource officer and pick up an application.
