You can now post on Internet Calendar

Now you can post your organizational events that are happening in Lehigh Acres. You can post to The Citizen’s Community Calendar. All you have to do is click on the newspaper’s website at: lehighacrescitizen.com and go to Monthly Calendar and click on Submit Events (under the Calendar) and post your event.

This is a non-profit site available to club groups and other organizations. For help, you can call The Citizen at 368-3944 and ask for Romina Mendoza.

Indian Village block party set June 20

A Neighborhood Block Party and Cleanup set for June 20 from 9 to noon at the Indian Village Subdivision off of Alabama Rd. is sponsored by the Lehigh Acres Weed Seed, Lehigh Acres Watchdog Inc., and Keep Lehigh Acres Beautiful Inc.

It is being co-sponsored by Lee County Sheriff Office, Lee County Sheriff Voice Patrol, Lehigh Acres Fire Department, Waste Management, Lee County Code Enforcement, Cabana Palms Dayspa, Habana Caf, Lehigh Acres Spring Festival / Byhop, Lee County Defense Forces and Dewey Tyler.

There will be free children printing by the Sherrif’s Voice Patrol for parents and a discussion of beginning a neighborhood watch. You can also win a free massage from Cabana Palms Dayspa. It’s all free, food and drinks, and a chance to meet your neighbors.

Lakewood Estates has covered dish social

Lakewood Estates Neighborhood Watch will have an informal covered dish social and a Meet and Greet on Saturday, June 20 at 4 p.m. Residents will gather at the end of Del Ray Place. Bring a dish to share, beverage and a chair. Short program by the Sheriff’s Department. No charge. Come and meet your neighbors and learn how we are protecting ourselves.

‘Sizzling Summer Dinner Dance’ set June 27

Lehigh Acres Elks are having a “Sizzling Summer Dinner and Dance” on Saturday, June 27. Cocktails at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. Music by the K-Tones. The menu consists of a half rack of baby back ribs, corn on the cob, salad, potato salad, and watermelon. Dress casual. For tickets and table reservations, call Melba McCleave at 303-1866. Remember the Elks’ Sunday Brunch from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 28.

AARP Driver Safety Program needs instructor

The AARP Driver Safety Program is looking for a couple of people who would be willing to become instructors to teach this program in

the Lehigh Acres area. You will be trained in a two-day course which will be held this fall. If you are interested in joining this program and becoming an Instructor, contact Jerry Ladendorf at 239-573-1918.

Publisher to talk to writers group on June 20

James Abraham, a book publisher who specializes in helping authors who self-publish, will address the Gulf Coast Writers Association on the pitfalls and promise of self-publishing and offer tips on getting “the most book for one’s buck” at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 20. The meeting and workshop will take place at Freedom Hall, Zion Lutheran Church, 7401 Winkler Road, Fort Myers.

James Abraham has worked as a reporter, editor, editorial writer and columnist at the Sarasota Herald Tribune and the Charlotte Sun. He has written two books: “My Life and Times,” by Verda F. Welcome as told to James M. Abraham, Henry House Publishing, 1991; “Come Read With Me,” James M. Abraham, Vico Press, 2005.

Admission $5, non-members, $3 members, first time visitors free.

Music camp set in Lehigh

The Lehigh Children’s Choir Summer Music Camp will be held June 16,23,30, July 7, 14, 21, and 28, Tuesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. The cost is $40 for a full

summer session. There will be singing, games, movement theory and more. Call 368-2488 for reservations.
