Community invited to ‘Take Back Lehigh’ meeting Friday, June 19

By Staff | Jun 19, 2009

To The Editor:

I have asked the Lehigh Chambere of Commerce to help get the word out to Chamber members to attend a “Take Back Lehigh” meeting to be held today at 7 p.m. (June 19), The meeting will be held at Harvest Ministries, 200 Lee Boulevard, Lehigh Acres. The story is also featured on Lehighacrescitizen.com and in the printed editions this week of The Lehigh Acres Citizen.

These people will be at the meeting, as well as others:

Larry Gutridge, Crime Prevention Specialist for the Lee County Sheriff’s Department

Kate Eckman, Channel 2

Host Pastor Mark Zemmett

Deputies from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office

The goal of this meeting is to teach all residents of Lehigh Acres how to “Take Back Our Beautiful City,” and make the streets safe to walk again. This will only happen if we as a community pull together and show up to learn what we can do as individuals, families, friends and business people. This effort needs a big turn-out fill the sanctuary and take time to help find ways to participate in cleaning up Lehigh. Through the Sheriff’s “Weed and Seed” program, Neighborhood Watch, and better information, the hope is to drive out the criminal element in Lehigh Acres.

“Standing alone we can do nothing. Pulling together and taking a stand will help create a needed change.”

Now is the time to take a stand in what we don’t want in Lehigh Acres, and that’s more crime.
