Jansen’s art in Missouri museum

This piece of art is being shown in Aspen, Colo.

The Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City Mo., recently acquired two new paintings titled, “eggs and ham,” 48 by 36-inch oil enamel collage on canvas and “empty plates,” 48 by 36-inch oil, enamel collage on canvas by Lehigh Acres artist Marcus Antonius Jansen. Both paintings were created by Jansen in 2007.

The two works, were acquired at HW Gallery in Naples, whose artist rasta include Dine, Dubuffet, Lichtenstein, Mir, Picasso, Rauschenberg, Renoir, and Warhol.

Jansen, is internationally represented by Museum Works Gallery Aspen/New York. His work can be found in the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMOMA), Smithsonian Anacostia Museum and the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Art.

Known for his politically and socially charged works, he was recently commissioned by Warner Brothers Hollywood for its 70th. anniversary celebration of the Wizard of OZ story.

Previous artists who have reconstructed their vision of Frank Baum’s OZ, included Jasper Johns, Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons and Chuck Close.
