Armed robber at Sweetbay customer heist sought
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating an armed robbery suspect. On June 14, at approximately 6:25 p.m., Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Sweetbay supermarket, located at 61 Bell Boulevard, Lehigh Acres, in reference to an armed robbery.
Due to the nature of the incident, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Robbery Unit assumed the investigation.
The victim told detectives that while walking to her vehicle, she was confronted by a white male brandishing a knife.
The suspect was threatening the victim with the weapon and demanded her purse. The victim then threw her purse at the suspect while trying to get away from him.
The suspect took the purse and fled the scene in a late 80s to early 90s model sedan, white in color. The exact make and model of the vehicle, as well as the number of doors, is unknown. It also had a rusted body and a dent in the driver’s side door, detectives said.
The suspect is described as a white male in his mid 20s, five feet, nine inches tall and weighing around 145 pounds with greasy, blond shoulder length hair and wearing khaki colored shorts and a Hawaiian shirt.
The victim in this incident was not harmed, authorities said.
