Lehigh hit by major drug busts; several arrested

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Division Operation Eagle Claw resulted in several arrests recently. The operation was a multi-state initiative organized by the South Florida High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (H.I.D.T.A.) that included law enforcement agencies from all 67 Florida counties, as well as agencies from Georgia and Tennessee.

The focus of the operation on June 10 was to locate and dismantle marijuana grow houses statewide, and disrupt the distribution of marijuana throughout the Southeast Region of the United States, Sheriff’s officials said.

On the local front, investigators with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit and members of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Evidence Section made contact with individuals at more than 50 homes in the county. Their efforts resulted in the dismantling of four grow house operations, one outdoor grow operation, the recovery of 166 and one high-caliber rifle, investigators said.

The location of the grow operations and the names of the individuals arrested are listed below. Each individual’s home address is the same as the address where they were arrested:

1414 McArthur Avenue, Lehigh Acres one plant, 3.5 pounds of packaged marijuana recovered. Juan Valdivia-Cardenas, 41, was charged with marijuana possession with Intent to Sell.

120 Washington Avenue, Lehigh Acres – 27 plants. Ineldo Perera Perez, 58, was charged with producing marijuana, trafficking marijuana, and possession of narcotics equipment

21611 Palm Beach Boulevard, Fort Myers – 118 plants. Lucio Romero Toledo, 56, charged with producing marijuana, trafficking marijuana, and possession of narcotics equipment

3405 8th Street SW, Lehigh Acres – 18 plants

Eduardo Gonzalez, 45, was charged with producing marijuana, trafficking marijuana and possession of narcotics equipment. Dignora Blanca Cruz, 43, was charged with producing marijuana, trafficking marijuana, and possession of narcotics equipment

The investigation also resulted in the following non-grow house related arrests:

John Hoss, 27, of 611 Grant Avenue, Lehigh Acres. He was charged with driving with a suspended license.

James Elyard, 30, of 917 Abbot Avenue, Lehigh Acres. He was charged with tampering with or Destroying Evidence.

Martin Medrano, 56, of 846 Dawhert Avenue S, Lehigh Acres. He was charged with probation violation.
