Wedding rings, cake featured on new stamps
Love is in the air-and the U.S. Postal Service has introduced two stamps depicting wedding rings and a wedding cake. Both stamps are currently on sale nationwide and will be popular with couples sending out wedding invitations.
The 44-cent, one-ounce Wedding (Rings) special stamp in one design in a pressure-sensitive adhesive pane of 20 stamps features a photograph of two gold wedding rings resting on a small white pillow; a slender ribbon of white silk unites them. This stamp is intended for use on the RSVP envelopes often enclosed with a wedding invitation.
Sure to add a touch of beauty and romance to wedding correspondence, the 2009 Wedding Cake stamp has a value of 61 cents, the two-ounce mailing rate to accommodate the heavier weight of an invitation, as well as other mailings such as oversize cards or small gifts that require extra postage. The stamp features a photograph of a wedding cake and depicts a three-tier wedding cake topped with white flowers, their green stems and leaves a delightful contrast to the cake’s creamy white frosting.
