Grace Parish

Grace Parish died at her home in Thomaston, Ga., on June 2 from after suffering from a malignant brain tumor since 2007. She was formerly from Lehigh Acres.

Born in Santa Monica, Calif., on August 23, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Harley M. Palmer and Laura (Cole) Palmer.

She was a 1969 graduate of Kennebunk Maine High School and attended Emmerson College in Boston, Mass. She later worked for one of the airlines where she met her future husband, James Parish Jr. They married on Aug. 6, 1994.

Before moving to Georgia, they lived in Lehigh Acres where she worked in real estate. she was a past president of the General Women’s Club of Lehigh Acres.

She is survived by her husband, James Parish Jr., stepchildren, James Parish III and his wife, Darlene; Jamie Parish, and grandchildren, Anna Marie Parish and Mattie Linn Parish.

She is also survived by her mother, Laura (Cole) Palmer; a sister, Ruth A. Palmer; her mother-in-law, Vivian Parish; a sister-in-law, Carol Parish, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held at the Yatesville Baptist Church in Thomaston, Ga., on Saturday, June 6 with the Rev. Steve Maguire officiating.
