Cubs claim another win over Miracle
The Daytona Cubs have the Fort Myers Miracle’s number.
The Cubs defeated the Miracle 5-1 Sunday at Hammond Stadium, taking a 6-2 lead in the season series.
The Cubs also won the Florida State League Championship Series between the teams last September.
Deolis Guerra (5-8) took the loss. He gave up four earned runs on nine hits in 5 2/3 innings. Santos Arias and Blair Erickson combined for 3 1/3 scoreless inings in relief.
Daytona’s Andrew Cashner will continue to search for his first decision of 2009. He worked four scoreless innings. The converted closer walked three and struck out three. The win went to reliever Dustin Sasser, who gave up one unearned run in his three innings. Al Alburquerque kept the Miracle (44-29, 1-3) scoreless in his two innings.
Nate Samson was 4-for-5 for the Cubs. No Miracle player recorded more than one hit.
The Miracle travel to Lakeland Monday.
