Former Mariner High and Florida Gulf Coast University pitcher Casey Coleman has continued his rapid rise in minor league baseball.

Recently, Coleman was selected to participate in the 2009 Southern League All-Star Game July 13 at Regions Park in Birmingham, Ala.

Coleman is a member of the Tennessee Smokies, the Class-AA affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. Along with Coleman, five other members of the Smokies were selected to the North Division roster.

Coleman, who turns 22 Friday, June 26, was drafted by the Cubs in the 15th round of the 2008 MLB Draft. This season, he has compiled a 7-3 record and 2.80 ERA.
