Crist appoints Scott to task force on human trafficking

By Staff | Jul 2, 2009

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist has appointed Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott to a new statewide task force aimed at human trafficking. Scott is one of three appointees on a 19-person panel created to examine the problem of human trafficking and to recommend strategies and actions for reducing or eliminating the unlawful trafficking of men, women and children into Florida.

The Statewide Task Force on Human Trafficking was created by the legislature earlier this year. It will implement a plan currently being drafted at Florida State University.

“I am both humbled and honored that Gov. Crist picked me to be part of this all-important task force,” Scott said. “We will work to strengthen efforts to prevent this despicable crime in Lee County and across the entire state.”

Scott’s term runs until July 1, 2011.
