How about doing something about Congress, too?
To The Editor:
U.S. District Judge Denny Chin sentenced Bernard Madoff to 150 years. He is 71 years old, so how many of that 150 years will he serve? Why not just sentence him to life and let it go at that! Our screwed up justice system is another story.
Mr. Madoffgot what he deserved. He and the SEC screwed 1,300 investors out of an estimated $171 billion over the past two decades.
Mr. Madoff made one big mistake. He was not a member of the U.S. Congress. After all, the U.S. Congress has been doing to the millions of taxpayers what Mr. Madoff was doing to his investors, for a longer period of time, and not one of them have been sentenced.
Congress has allowed our jobs, our homes, our savings, and most of all, our freedom of choice, to be taken away from us and not a one of them has been held accountable. Not only have they not been held accountable, they are rewarded with all the “perks” after only one term.
Retirement benefits for life, affordable medical care, and while a member, free travel all over the world, no payments of taxes (unless you are running or being appointed to an office and get caught) and from the way things are going, all the sex you want!
What a disgraceful bunch this body of elected and appointed officials are. What a disgraceful bunch this body of American voters are, because we elected them!
