Awards to be made to legislators on July 28
The Broadway Palm Theater, the Florida Chamber of Commerce and the Lee County Alliance of Chambers will come together and host the Local Legislative Delegation Awards on Tuesday, July 28 from 7:30 to 9 a.m.
The Legislative Awards recognize legislators whose leadership helped strengthen Florida’s economy through job growth and the protection of the free enterprise system.
Sen. Garret Richter will be honored with the Most Valuable Legislator Award. Richter earned the 2009 Most Valuable Legislator Award because of his leadership on several critical pro-business bills, promoters said.
Throughout the Legislative Session, Richter continued to champion the need for less burdensome restrictions on Florida’s employers, helping to deliver victories for the business community during a tough session, they said.
There will be a presentation from Gabe Sheheane, Legislative Affairs Liaison for The Florida Chamber regarding Amendment 4 (Hometown Democracy). Hometown Democracy is one of the single largest issues the business community will be facing in the upcoming year. Gabe will lay out a plan on how the business community can come together to fight this “Vote on Everything” proposed Amendment.
The public is invited to attend the ceremonies. The cost to attend is $20 per person. Registration and networking are from 7:30 to 8 a.m. with the awards and presentation from 8 to 9 a.m. If you have any questions about this event contact Heather Mazurkiewicz at 239-470-2478.
