Smoke detectors being recalled

Consumers are encouraged to check out their smoke detector to make sure they don’t have a defective model. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is

recalling 94,000 Dual Sensor Smoke Alarms made by Kidde. The manufacturer is cooperating with the recall of the Kidde Model P12000.

The P12000 is a dual sensor smoke alarm that uses ionization and photoelectric cells to detect heat and smoke. The model was sold throughout the country.

The CPSC says Kidde has received two reports of malfunctions involving electrostatic discharge during installation. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers can locate the model number of the smoke detector on the back. For a free replacement they can contact Kidde toll-free at (877) 524-2086.
