Avoiding buzzing bees in Southwest Florida might be a smart idea to avert their sting but neglect their locally produced honey and miss the numerous health benefits. Just ask Ron Weisburg, from Lee Bees Honey who sells his locally produced unprocessed honey at GreenMarket, at the Alliance for the Arts, Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to noon.

Weisburg’s customers return weekly with claims that the honey tastes better, reduces allergies, alleviates muscles soreness, helps prostate problems and will even give you a burst of energy.

Amongst satisfied customers, doctors have recently been buzzing about the healing properties of honey. According to Dr. Group’s post on the Global Healing Center’s Natural Health and Organic Living Blogg, “It is always best to grow or consume foods from the area in which you live as they contain the immune stimulating properties needed for your body to adapt to its environment.”

Group goes on to list some of the benefits of eating honey, “increases endurance, aids in weight loss, relieves morning sickness, calms upset stomach and arthritis, reduces bladder infections, keeps cholesterol levels low, helps with local allergies, and has even been said to slow down hair loss.”
