Arrests made in drug store robberies
Detectives with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Robbery Unit said Monday they have arrested two individuals they say who are responsible for the recent robbery of four stores in Lee County. Bryan K. Gray (DOB 7/28/87), of 15021 Woodrich Bend Court #362, Fort Myers, and Kayla Christine Thompson (DOB 10/12/88), of 15041Woodrich Bend Court #367, Fort Myers, have each been charged with four counts of Robbery With a Weapon for their involvement in the following incidents:
Walgreens – Friday, July 24, 2:44 a.m.
Deputies responded to the Walgreens located at 12749 South Cleveland Avenue, Fort Myers, in reference to an armed robbery. Due to the nature of the crime, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Robbery Unit assumed the investigation. Detectives learned that a male suspect, armed with a knife, and a female suspect enter the store demanding cash and cigarettes. After the employees meet the suspect’s demands, they flee in an unknown direction.
CVS Pharmacy – Saturday, July 25, 11:55 p.m.
Deputies responded to the CVS, located at 15050 North Cleveland Avenue, North Fort Myers, in reference to an armed robbery. Statements provided by employees and customers indicate that a female and male suspect, armed with a knife, enter the store and demand money from the register. Both suspects then left the store with an undisclosed amount of money.
CVS Pharmacy – July 27, at 12:53 a.m.
Deputies are notified of another robbery that just occurred at the CVS, located at 9170 Daniels Parkway, Fort Myers. Investigators learned that both a female and male suspect enter the store and use the same methods as the suspects from the other two robberies, except in this incident the female displayed the knife. The suspects demand money and cigarettes, but only make off with cigarettes due to the employees being unable to open the cash register. Both suspects are seen leaving the scene in a green vehicle.
CVS Pharmacy – Sunday July 27, 2009 at 1:36 a.m.
Deputies responded to the CVS, located at 19070 South Tamiami Trail, Fort Myers, and meet with the complainant who states that as he arrived in the CVS parking lot, he witnessed two suspects wearing masks running from the store. Investigators learned that both a male and female suspect entered the store displaying a knife and demanding money from the register. An employee opened the register and stepped away as the male suspect took the money. Both suspects fled in a green vehicle.
Based on information provided by victims and witnesses, investigators were able to identify Gray and Thompson as suspects in all four cases. Both individuals were located and transported to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office for questioning. Investigators determined that Gray and Thompson were the individuals responsible for all four robberies. They were then charged with the crimes listed above and transported to the Lee County Jail for booking.
