UPS driver accused of theft

By Staff | Aug 12, 2009

A United Parcel Service driver was charged with grand theft late Thursday after UPS’s loss prevention department told Cape Coral police the company suspect the man of stealing.
Detectives with the Property Crimes Unit of the Cape Coral Police Department arrested Craig Podleski, 38, of 407 S.E. 34th Terrce, in connection with a grand theft investigation that began after the UPS contact, officials said. According to Lee County Jail records, he has been charged with two counts of larceny theft $300 or more but less than $5000
UPS had suspected Podleski of theft and obtained information that a missing Sony Play Station was at Podleski’s residence, according to a prepared statement released today by the Cape Coral Police Department.
Detectives went to his residence where they spoke with the man’s wife. She gave the detectives permission to enter the home and the Play Station was located, officials said. Since Podleski was suspected in numerous other thefts from UPS, a search warrant for the residence was executed today, officials added.
Detectives recovered “several hundred pieces of stolen property,” according to police.
The total value is still being determined as the investigation is on going.
