MEDSTAR 1 wreckage back in Lee County
The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration conditionally released the MEDSTAR 1 wreckage back to Lee County Emergency Medical Services today. The NTSB and FAA have not indicated when their investigation into the cause of the accident will be complete.
The helicopter is currently housed at the Lee County Mosquito Control Hangar on 15191 Homestead Road 33971. The two federal agencies continue to maintain control over the aircraft until their investigations are complete.
MEDSTAR 1, an American Eurocopter EC-145, tail number N911LZ, crashed into the Intracoastal Waterway off Upper Captiva Island early Monday morning. All crew members on board are recuperating in good condition.
