Road work in Lee Couty for week ahead

I-75 Road Expansion project to six-lane the interstate from Golden Gate Parkway interchange (#105) in Collier County to Colonial Boulevard interchange (#136) in Lee County: Construction project — Crews will be working 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, August 23 to Saturday, August 29, weather permitting, maintaining traffic signs and barrels along I-75 northbound and southbound between the Golden Gate interchange (exit #105) and the Colonial Boulevard interchange (exit #136).

Crews also will conduct surveys, place silt fencing off the roadway for erosion control, install sod, perform drainage work in the median, milling the outside shoulder and install guardrail and cable barrier. Crews will perform bridgework at Immokalee Road (exit #111), and Hicks Crossing (mile marker #124). Motorists should expect occasional shoulder closures between the Golden Gate interchange and the Colonial Boulevard interchange. The following work is scheduled, weather permitting, and includes lane closures:

Each night/overnight 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., from Sunday night, August 23 through early Friday morning, August 28, motorists can expect ramp closures on both the northbound and southbound merge and exit ramps of I-75 at Corkscrew Road. (#123)

Each night/overnight 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., from Sunday night, August 23 through early Friday morning, August 28, motorists can expect lane closures, ramp closures and traffic shifts at:

oImmokalee Road for bridge work.

oTraffic shift between mile marker #123 and mile marker #130 from the inside to the outside lanes.

oOne lane closed northbound and southbound I-75 from the Daniels Parkway interchange (exit #131) to the Golden Gate Parkway interchange (exit #105).

9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, August 23 to Saturday, August 29, bridgework will require various lane closures:

oPine Ridge Road at the Pine Ridge Road/I-75 interchange.

oImmokalee Road at the Immokalee Road/I-75 interchange.

oBonita Beach Road at the Bonita Beach Road/I-75 interchange.

oCorkscrew Road at the Corkscrew Road/I-75 interchange.

oDaniels Parkway at the Daniels Parkway/I-75 interchange.

Motorists are advised to expect eastbound lane closures in the morning and westbound lane closures in the afternoon.

Motorists should expect lane closures northbound and southbound during nighttime work with the speed limit reduced to 60 mph. One lane northbound and one lane southbound will remain open to traffic during nighttime work requiring lane closures. Motorists are reminded to USE CAUTION, always buckle up, always pay attention, and do not tailgate. WORK ZONE SAFETY IS EVERYONE’S JOB.

U.S. 41/Caloosahatchee Bridge: Maintenance contract project — Motorists should expect nighttime/overnight lane closures from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather permitting. The bridge will have one lane in each direction open to traffic during routine maintenance work to clean and paint components of the bridge. The project is expected to finish September 9, 2009. Boaters should be aware that vertical clearance under the bridge may vary while work occurs.

U.S. 41: From Boyscout Drive to Daniels Parkway: Maintenance permit project — Crews are landscaping and making improvements to the irrigation system along the roadway from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting. Motorists should expect lane closures and possible delays.

U.S. 41: At the Alico Road intersection: Maintenance permit project — Crews are working on the traffic signals and intersection adjustments from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting. No lane closures are expected at this time, but motorists should be aware of crews working in the area.

U.S. 41: At the Fountain Lakes intersection: Maintenance permit project — Crews are installing a new traffic signal at the intersection from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting. No lane closures are expected at this time, but motorists should be aware of crews working in the area.

S.R. 884/Colonial Boulevard: From Ford Street Extension to Deer Run Farms Road: Maintenance permit project — Crews are constructing new turn lanes at Veronica Shoemaker Boulevard (Plantation Road). Crews are also installing construction signs and working in the median. Motorists should expect the left turn lane on eastbound Colonial Boulevard onto northbound Veronica Shoemaker Boulevard to be closed. Motorists should also be aware of intermittent east and westbound lane closures delays and slow moving traffic.

S.R. 739/Metro Parkway: From Six Mile Cypress Parkway to Daniels Parkway: Construction project — This project is widening Metro Parkway from two to six lanes. Crews are installing drainage and placing embankment adjacent to the southbound roadway.

Motorists should expect side street closures on the west side of Metro Parkway. Signs are posted directing traffic to businesses along Metropolis Road. South Gulf Coast (west side) and North Gulf Coast (west side) are closed while crews continue to install utilities and construct the new roadway. South Gulf Coast (east side) will be closed at night to complete utility installation. Metropolis Extension is now open for traffic.

Motorists also should be aware of new traffic patterns on Metro at Daniels Parkway. Southbound traffic has been moved to the east while crews continue work to build new roadway in the vicinity of the 7-Eleven. Northbound traffic on Metro Parkway south of Daniels Road also has been moved to the east.

Traffic has also been moved to the new roadway from south of South Gulf Coast Lane to Six Mile Cypress. The speed limit has been reduced to 30 MPH. Please expect delays, slow moving traffic and possible lane closures while traveling through this area. Motorists should be aware of construction workers working near the roadway. The contractor is E.T. MacKenzie Company.

S.R. 78/Pine Island Road: At the Santa Barbara intersection: Maintenance permit project — As part of the City of Cape Coral’s project on Santa Barbara Boulevard, crews are working on intersection improvements and the traffic signals. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures and intermittent closures of the right turn lanes in this intersection. The posted speed limit is 35 mph while traveling through the work zone. Motorists should use caution and seek alternative routes whenever possible.

S.R. 78/Pine Island Road: Westbound from Chiquita Boulevard to Burnt Store Road: Maintenance permit project — Crews will be removing telephone poles and overhead cable from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, August 24th to Saturday, August 29th, weather permitting. Motorists should expect a westbound lane closure controlled by flagmen, slow moving traffic and possible delays.
