WASHINGTON – Congressman Connie Mack (FL-14) was named a “Defender of Economic Freedom” by the Club for Growth recently for his advocacy for policies that protect the free market and limit the size and scope of the government.
The Club for Growth is a leading free-market advocacy organization with over 40,000 members nationwide.
“I’m honored to be recognized by Club for Growth for my support of pro-economic, pro-growth policies,” Mack said in a prepared statement. “The people of Southwest Florida want and deserve less taxing, less spending, less government, and more freedom. I’m proud to be their voice in Congress and to fight for the principles that make our country free and strong.”
Mack earned a 96 percent rating from the Club for Growth for the second session of the 110th Congress (2008). The rankings were based on 25 votes on legislation that would expand free trade; cut wasteful government spending, such as billions of dollars for numerous bailouts; and stop the practice of imposing Davis-Bacon wage requirements in publicly-financed projects.
Only 52 Members of Congress scored high enough to receive the “Defender of Economic Freedom” Award.
