Remember 9/11 victims by donating blood at LRMC

By Staff | Sep 10, 2009

“Remembering 9/11 Local Heroes Saving Lives at Lehigh Regional Medical Center is set for Friday, Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The medical center is at 1500 Lee Blvd., Lehigh.

A spokesman for Florida’s Blood Centers said any person who has ever considered giving blood to please come out and participate in the drive.

Blood donations help save the lives of people needing routine surgery, trauma patients, premature babies and cancer patients at local hospitals which depend on those donations for life-saving blood transfusions, said Wilma Rivera, a spokeswoman with Florida’s Blood Centers.

If you donate Friday, Sept. 11 you will receive a free mini physical, a $25 coupon for Golfhub.com and a reusable grocery bag, she said.

She said you should bring a photo ID with you. The “Big Red Bus” will be parked in front of the hospital.

“This is a tribute to the heroes we honor with respect and dignity whose lives were lost on Sept. 11, 2001,” Rivera said.
