Gleason Parkway will be temporarily closed to traffic to the west of Santa Barbara Boulevard starting Wednesday.
The temporary closure is necessary as crews widen the west side of Santa Barbara from Southwest 31st Terrace through Gleason.
Planned detours for northbound Santa Barbara motorists wanting to access areas of Gleason to the west of Santa Barbara will be north on Santa Barbara, west on Veterans Parkway, south on Skyline Boulevard and east onto Gleason.
Southbound motorists traveling on Santa Barbara will travel west on Veterans, south on Skyline and east onto Gleason.
Advance warning signs, electronic message boards and barricades will be used to direct motorists traveling through the area.
The posted speed limit is 35 mph while traveling through the work zone.
Motorists are urged to use caution and to seek alternative routes whenever possible.
Weather and unforeseen circumstances could affect the construction schedule and may cause delays.
