Children’s Choir meets Tuesdays for practice
The Lehigh Children’s Choir meets Tuesday nights for practice. Children grades 1 through 3 from 6 p,m. to 7 p.m. grades 4 through 12, 7 to 8 p.m. For more information, call 239-368-2488.
QUAINTANCE TO BE COMMUNITY COUNCIL SPEAKER
Members and guests of the Community Council of Lehigh Acres will hear from Deputy Josh Quaintance of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office on Sept. 21.
Quaintance works with youth in Lehigh Acres and will speak on youth issues in Lehigh Acres and how the JAM (Juvenile Adolescent Monitoring), NAB (Neighborhood Accountability Boards), SYAL (Sheriff’s Youth Activity League) and SET (Selective Enforcement Team) are affecting these issues.
The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. This monthly community gathering begins with informal greetings and meetings of fellow citizens at 6 p.m. followed by the meeting at 6:30 p.m. at New Image Ministry located at 29 Homestead Road in Lehigh.
In addition to the guest speaker, the Council will conduct its monthly meeting which addresses concerns of Lehigh Acres citizens.
LSHS TO HOLD ‘ACADEMY OPEN HOUSE’

LADY KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS TO HOLD FALL PARTY
The Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary will hold a party on Oct. 6 from noon to 3:30 p.m. There will be first, second and third prize raffles with the top prize at $100.

WRITER GROUOP TO MEET ON SEPT. 19
On Saturday, September 19, AT 10 a.m., the Gulf Coast Writers Association in partnership with other area writer organizations will hold a networking program. The following writer organizations will make presentations: Peace River Center for Writers, Sanibel Island Writers, SWFL Romance writers, SW Florida writers, and the Naples Press Club.
The networking meeting will take place at Freedom Hall, Zion Lutheran Church, 7401 Winkler Road, Fort Myers.

ELKS HOSTING CARD PARTY, LUNCH, BAKE SALE
The Elks will have a card party with lunch and bake sale on oct. 6 from noon until 3 p.m. There will also be a 50/50 raffle. Members and friends are invited to attend.

LITERACY WEEK AT THE LEE COUNTY LIBRARY The week of September 8 12 has been designated as Literacy Week at the Lee County Library System (LCLS.) During Literacy Week all LCLS library locations will have a display of library resources that promote literacy as well as contact information for the local literacy provider groups.
According to the Literacy Volunteers of Lee County, “The best available data suggest that there are more than 90,000 Lee Country residents who can’t read or write English well enough to meet the basic demands of everyday life.”
The work of erasing illiteracy is critical to improving the quality of lives in our communities and everyone can help. GOLF TOURNEY TO HELP SEND KID TO CAMP
A golf tournament will be put on by the Elks Lodge of Lehigh Acres, No. 2602 to send a kid to youth camp. It will be held Sept. 26 at Mirror Lakes Golf Club with registration at 7 a.m. Shotgun is 8 a.m. Cost is $40 per golfer. and includes 18 holes, cart, continental breakfast and lunch immediately following at the Elks Lodge at 1050 Joel Blvd.
Mulligans will e sold at registration, divisions men’s, women’s and mixed couple are welcome. This tournament is open to all golfers who want some fun.
